Double Standard is a musical group dedicated to the belief that music should have no boundaries. The group believes that the musical taste of people differ and are varied. Double Standard was founded in July of 2001, Mike Ailstock (drummer for KillingTime)Keith Dunnaway ( bass player for Kimberlin) decided to come together and start a new band DOUBLE STANDARD. Mike and Keith invited Andy Burke ( lead vocalist for Killing Time to join the band) Double Standard immediately started writing original music despite not having a lead guitar player. Double Standard shortly after went to friend Smoking Joe Dew to be the bands lead guitar player. (2003) Double Standard is A proud Representative for BUDWEISER TRUE MUSIC Double Standard has played Budweiser True Music events with more to come! we would like to give many thanks to all at Budweiser / promotion department / graphic department /web page design/bud shop and much more. Double Standard was featured three times on 96.3 WROV with an hour live on air interview as feature band of the night each time 96.3 WROV played 5 songs of the bands latest cd . Double Standard’s songs are still currently being aired by 96.3 WROV to date The Mix 104 began airing Double Standard’s songs the first week the morning host was sent the bands latest cd . The Mix 104 started getting such positive feed back from their listeners, The Mix 104 decided to spin Double Standard’s cd prime time on the air. Double Standard gave a live on air interview on The Mix 104 were one of Double Standard’s songs went to number one #1 on the stations countdown! Double Standard won the preliminaries at the WV Star Search on January 30,2002 for there cd to be summated to the next be star. Double Standard did a live out door on air interview on Big Country 101 at a performance that Double Standard was doing that night ! 106.3 WPOB in Harrisonburg airs Double Standard cd . 98 Rock airs Double Standard’s cd on their Regional, National show. Also here them on 95 Rock out of August Georgia, Arm Force Radio, Sony Juke Box , New Music Network. DOUBLE STANDARD IS : Smoking Joe Dew ( lead Guitar ) He is an outstanding lead guitar player that has shared the stage with well known bands such as Skid Row , Great White , Kentucky Headhunters , Kenny Wayne Sheppard ,and Jackyl He is originally from South Carolina his influences are ( Gary Moore, Eric Johnson, Steve Morse and Tuck Andress) Joe has played with Diamond Dick , Groove Syndicate , 420 Band , Phat Luv , Agents of Change and Splinter Mike Ailstock ( Drummer/percussionist) Mike Ailstock is an intense, overwhelming kick ass drummer percussionist that attacks his drums. Mike has a mind blowing impressive stage show with his 22- piece drum kit fully engulfed in flames ( where permitted) He is also known for his trade mark drum solos. Mike is originally from South Carolina, His influences are ( Rush , Kiss, Pink Floyd , and Van Halen) He has played with numerous bands ( M.T.K , Rock Bottom , Allen Peggerton Project , Killing Time) in addition Mike played with long time friend Keith Dunaway in Breach-Of-Peace the band came in 2nd place at the All State Band Jam in Lynchburg plus Mike and Keith played with Stranger Than Fiction This band placed on WROV’S top 20 countdown with 1 of 2 songs still currently being played on WROV’S HOME GROWN SHOW. Keith Dunaway ( bass ) Keith Dunaway is a red neck from VA who turns into a maniac with his bass thumping attitude, he has stage presence that can’t be contained, you’d be dazed with bewilderment by how this mad man can play the bass. His influences are: ( Black Sabbath, White Zombie, AC/DC and Budweiser Beer! Keith has played with (M.T.K, Rock Bottom , Breach-of-Peace , Uglies Creek, Stranger Than Fiction , and Kimberlin. Andy Burke ( Lead Vocals ) is a powerful lead vocalist with outstanding stage presence and enthusiasm. He has the ability to reach out take control of the crowd, taking them to new heights and wanting more. Andy is originally from Maryland he has been in different bands to include ( Decade, Shattered Reality, Back street band Mastiff. His influences are ( The Beatles, Elton John, Alice Cooper, and Boston.) Double Standard ‘s diversity has yet to be seen, They just don’t play music they eat it ,sleep it, breathe it, live it. Double Standard is live music and 4 of the most insane dudes to ever crank a volume knob , add a cranking P.A with a cool array of lights with visual effects and you get one hell of a show!
