REVIEW FROM SMOTHER.NET -- "Welcoming the Letdown" isn't too bad sounding for a young local band's efforts. Usually local unsigned metal bands record on the cheap but View of Innocence makes due with a great sounding full length ... they begin their album with the dark ambience of "Monotone Optimism" and then dive head first into thrashy metal with death growls and the various cores influences well in hand. The drumming is loud, stunningly fast, and almost manic but never to a fault - there are good chops here. I like the songwriting and the fuzzy distortion on the guitars on "Welcoming the Letdown", which is ironically titled after a full listen; these guys know how to let a song breathe and stretch its wings, how to end a song, and why every song shouldn't just be rife with breakdowns. Good stuff and quite promising for a local band!
